Puffy Paint
This is a great art technique that adds a third dimension to painting. It is so easy and most people have all of the necessary items in their houses. The art is open-ended, which means there are many ways of using the materials and allows for lots of creativity!
Age group: Toddler to School-Age
Ingredients:
-1 Cup Shaving cream
-1 Cup White glue
-Food colouring (various colours)
Materials:
-Paint brushes
-Paper
-Bowls
Mix equal parts shaving cream and glue into each bowl. Add desired food colours into bowls.
Let children paint the mixture onto paper. Set aside to dry. Paint will dry puffy :)
Additional ideas:
-Allow children to drop in two colours into one bowl of puffy paint mixture and learn about the colour wheel.
-Shaving cream + Food colours only; use in the bathtub by painting onto tiles.
-Make hills, spikes and dips on the paper.

Girl Club
Working with grade 1s and 2s, I am well aware that girls can be mean.
They exclude, say nasty things, write mean letters to each other, scream and yell. Sometimes they even become violent by pinching or hitting.
In elementary school, I was picked on a few times. I remember one time I wore the same shorts as one of the popular girls, and she told me, in front of her friends, that my shirt and shorts didn't match. I was surprised because I never thought about matching clothes before, but after that, I stayed away from her.
This is one song that I would like to share with any girl who has been picked on:

The Honest Company
While watching my favourite Hollywood interviewer, David Letterman, I stumbled upon a chat with Jessica Alba. She has young children so talked about motherhood. After clicking one clip to the next, I became aware she started a company call "The Honest Company"
The Honest Company sells products for children, and the home environment that are green labelled, available in pretty patterns, conveniently located in one place, and affordable. What more could you ask for?
Jessica partnered with Christopher Gavigan, author of Healthy Child Healthy World: Creating a Cleaner, Greener, Safer World; and Brian Lee. Most of the goods are made in the USA, with the exception of the diapers, which are made in a US company, just across the border in Mexico.
I honestly think this company is amazing! Check out their fabulous kits!
